The Kansas City Chiefs have been incredibly lucky in the way of injuries through the first two weeks of the regular season. Mansoor Delane has been the only injury of note once the season got underway, and the corner was active in Week 2, able to step in and start if needed. Kansas City had enough faith in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and their secondary depth to give Delane extra time to recover. Aside from Josh Simmons, it has been impossible to find much to complain about in the way of injuries.

Patrick Mahomes is clearly the biggest story, defying logic by playing at an elite level only months removed from an ACL tear. The three-time Super Bowl MVP put on such a show on Sunday Night Football that it served as an answer to any pundits or opposing fans who thought Mahomes might continue to dip following the ailment.

Looking around the league, there is no shortage of team-altering injuries, especially to starting QBs. Jayden Daniels, Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray, Caleb Williams, and Jaxson Dart are all already having to work off the field to get back on the field. While some of this can be credited to conditioning, the larger piece of it is simply luck of the draw when it comes to staying healthy.

Staying healthy has been a clear reason why the franchise has been able to return to dominance. While the last win was close against Indianapolis, there is no way around just how incredibly impressive the Chiefs offense has been, scoring over 30-plus points in each contest. It looks like the making of another top unit in the league.

No question, as long as the injury luck continues to fall Kansas City's way, the Chiefs should be considered a clear AFC favorite. An uneven start by the rest of the conference's top contenders has opened the door for the Chiefs to step in and take a title they have held for much of the last decade. One outlier of a year shouldn't have been viewed as so clearly pushing KC out of the spotlight.

The Chiefs staying healthy should serve as a warning to the rest of the league that not only is the roster back to what it once was, but there are even more ways for the team to keep improving game by game.
