The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs are back at practice on Wednesday as they prepare for their AFC West clash against the Denver Broncos.

Kansas City fans were worried about the injury status of superstar QB Patrick Mahomes, who re-aggravated his ankle injury on Monday night. But the veteran quarterback should be good to play on Sunday.

However, the Chiefs have another potential injury situation to worry about before kickoff against the Broncos.

On Wednesday, Kansas City announced that vets Mecole Hardman, Kareem Hunt, and George Karlaftis were all limited in practice today. The Chiefs also said veterans Juju Smith-Schuster and Tershawn Wharton did not practice.

Karlaftis was the new addition to Kansas City’s injury report as he deals with an abdomen injury. The 23-year-old pass rusher has been a playmaker off the edge this season for the Chiefs.

The former first-round pick has recorded 22 combined tackles, 15 quarterback pressures, 13 quarterback hits, five tackles for loss, and four sacks.

In Kansas City’s Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Karlaftis was all over the field with four combined tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass deflection. The Chiefs will wait to see how Karlaftis’ injury progresses over the next two days before deciding on his status for Sunday.

Nonetheless, if the 6-foot-4 defensive end cannot play this week, the Chiefs must lean on Malik Herring and Cameron Thomas. Herring has eight combined tackles, three QB hits, and a tackle for loss in eight games this season. Meanwhile, Thomas has only appeared in four games this year with the Chiefs.
