The Kansas City Chiefs arrived at training camp on Monday, which starts their quest to return to the Super Bowl at Missouri Western State University.

With a new year of training camp, it means that position battles and jobs are up for grabs on the 53-man roster and practice squad. As always, Chiefs fans are watching to see who will win the remaining jobs at the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart, which is always competitive every summer.

Last week, Kansas City eliminated one receiver from the ongoing battle, waiving fan favorite Justyn Ross, who had been with the team since 2022. Chiefs fans were surprised to see the team finally cut ties with Ross, who had appeared in 12 games during his Kansas City tenure.

Nonetheless, it didn't take the Chiefs long to find a potential Ross replacement.

Chiefs Add Undrafted WR Hal Presley to Start Training Camp

On Monday, Nick Jacobs of KSHB 41 News reported that the Chiefs signed undrafted wideout Hal Presley, who played his collegiate ball at Baylor. Presley was most recently with the Buffalo Bills, who signed him following the 2025 NFL draft, but released him after their rookie minicamp in May.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver racked up 81 receptions for 1,048 yards and seven TDs at Baylor. Presley missed a significant time of his junior season in 2023 due to injury, resulting in only 17 receptions for 222 yards in six games.

Fortunately, he bounced back in his last year at Baylor, posting 31 receptions for 429 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. During his time with the Bears, Presley was named honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2022.

The undrafted playmaker won’t blow you away with his receiving skills, but he does offer some special teams coverage and blocking skills. Given he’s at the end of the Chiefs’ 90-man roster, special teams might be Presley's best path to cracking the team.

The former Baylor wideout has a lot of competition in front of him, but after getting pushed aside by the Bills, he has a chance to make them regret that by making the Chiefs' 53-man unit later this summer.
