On Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs signed safety Major Williams, one of their standouts from rookie minicamp. Early Tuesday afternoon, the Chiefs added another minicamp standout, this time on the offensive side of the ball.

According to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, Kansas City signed Louisiana Tech wide receiver Jimmy Holiday to their 90-man preseason roster. Holiday's ability to stand out this past weekend was impressive, given there were 12 other receivers competing for targets. Notable names on the field were rookie draft pick Jalen Royals and veteran Jaaron Hayek, who has made Kansas City's 90-man roster before.

Chiefs Add Rookie Minicamp Standout WR Jimmy Holiday

Holiday began his five-year collegiate career with the Tennessee Volunteers from 2019-2022. In those three seasons, he mostly contributed on special teams, returning kickoffs. However, in 2022, Holiday did record six receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown.

Following the 2022 season, Holiday transferred to Western Kentucky. In his lone season with the Hilltoppers, he recorded 20 receptions for 326 yards and two touchdowns. After a productive season with the Hilltoppers, Holiday transferred once again, this time to Louisiana Tech.

In 2024 with the Bulldogs, Holiday had his best season. He caught 39 passes for 476 yards and scored two receiving touchdowns while carrying the ball 48 times for 182 yards and scoring four rushing touchdowns.

Although Holiday was taken off kickoff duty for his final two college seasons, that's where he likely fits best in the NFL. At 5-foot-11, 198 pounds, his slender frame and 4.40-second speed could make him a solid returner.

While Holiday is unlikely to make the Chiefs' 53-man roster, he would be the perfect practice squad candidate. After all, last season, Kansas City had to elevate Nikko Remigio for kick return duties, and given Holiday has a similar skillset, he would be a perfect fit for that spot this year.
