When former Kansas City Chiefs corner L'Jarius Sneed first hit free agency, there was a lot of speculation that a potential reunion could be on the table. However, after the team opted to draft Mansoor Delane with the team's first selection, much of the noise around potential free agency additions has quieted. This is a clear mistake, with defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo still having every reason to want to add experience to the position.

It isn't just Delane dealing with inexperience, but second-year corner Nohl Williams, who is expected to fill a starting role. Add in the question marks around veteran Kristian Fulton, and it is easy to argue that signing Sneed makes more sense than ever. Even if the veteran isn't able to turn back the clock, there is value in having his experience and leadership rostered.

Both Delane and Williams will have a player who has won at the highest level to lean on and learn from. There is also the potential upside that the Chiefs are able to rebuild the corner to his past production and turn what was a clear weakness into a potential strength.

For Sneed, the veteran is quickly running out of options, and signing with KC offers clear upside. The Chiefs get the best out of their secondary and will give the corner a chance not only for Super Bowl contention but to rebuild his value and once again cash in on playing with one of the league's prestigious organizations.

Chiefs Shouldn't Forget Free Agent L'Jarius Sneed Despite First-Round Decisions

Bringing in Sneed would give you a great camp and preseason competition. He would promise that you have at least one fallback option if injury strikes. It would complete a secondary rebuild that has been set up by the offseason departures of Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, and Bryan Cook.

Sneed returning, along with the first-round selection of Delane, gives Kansas City fans a reason to buy into a unit that right now is full of promise but offers very little experience. Fans have watched Sneed contribute at the highest level and help push the Chiefs to a Super Bowl run.

There is a chance you find this production once again, and if not, you still have incredible value in a defensive leader for a young unit. While Chris Jones is a clear tone setter for the entire unit, it would be ideal to have a bit more experience in the KC secondary.

With this in mind, the Chiefs should reach out to the defensive back and attempt a reunion that would be the cherry on top of an incredibly exciting draft class. For Sneed, there is every reason to return to a franchise that first pushed you to prominence and offers a path back.
