After an embarrassing loss on the sport’s biggest stage, all the Kansas City Chiefs can think about is inflicting vengeance on the rest of the league. With all the moves they’ve made in the offseason, it’s clear they aren’t messing around this upcoming season and want to take back what they feel is rightfully theirs: the Lombardi Trophy.

This season is an extremely crucial one for the Chiefs, as it could be the last time we see Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and head coach Andy Reid together making another run to the Super Bowl. Although Mahomes is in his prime years, both Kelce and Reid aren’t getting any younger.

Additionally, the AFC West is only getting stronger and is projected to be one of the toughest divisions in the league. If the Chiefs want to end the Mahomes-Kelce-Reid era on a high note, they must get this former rival on the phone ASAP.

Chiefs Must Sign WR Keenan Allen

While the Chiefs have a strong group of pass catchers, they do have some questions. Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice (in addition to his looming suspension) are coming off injuries, and while both are healthy heading into camp, will they be able to return to their prior form? Xavier Worthy had a great rookie season, especially in the playoffs, but will he hit the notorious sophomore slump?

It shouldn’t matter too much who’s lining up at receiver when you have Mahomes, but this could be their last season to win it all with Kelce and Reid. The Chiefs must put all their marbles on this season and sign Keenan Allen to increase their chances of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

Allen is coming off his lone season with the Chicago Bears, posting 70 receptions, 744 yards, and 7 touchdowns in 15 games. Even though he just turned 33, Allen is still a good receiver and can be an immediate contributor to a championship-caliber team.

Pairing Mahomes with Allen would instantly boost the Chiefs’ receiving corps and provide Mahomes with another red-zone target. Although Allen has an injury history, he’s remained relatively healthy the last two years, only missing six games.

With training camp just days away, Allen shouldn’t be a costly addition and would only be on a one-year deal. Allen also hasn’t won a Super Bowl, so I’m sure he would take less money to compete for a title.

If they sign Allen, the Chiefs instantly enhance their chance of closing this era with a title.
