The Kansas City Chiefs' first drive of the 2025 season started in brutal fashion with friendly fire taking out receiver Xavier Worthy. Travis Kelce and Worthy were both running across the middle of the field, and incidental contact resulted in Worthy taking an absolute shot from Kelce. The speedster was listed as out for the rest of the game with a right shoulder injury. It appeared that a dislocation was possible based on where the hit took place and Worthy's arm hanging as he got up and went towards the sideline.

With this in mind, the Chiefs are going to be in a bind at the position. Already, they're without Rashee Rice, who is suspended for the first six games of the season. This leaves them without your two primary weapons for the foreseeable future. If the injury to Worthy was as serious as it appeared, the Chiefs are going to need to find an instant answer. The most valuable option they can target will be a controversial one: Odell Beckham Jr.

Chiefs Should Attempt to Breathe Life back into the Career of Free Agent Odell Beckham Jr.

It appears too early in the season to find an answer on the trade market, with nearly every team having some level of belief in the ability to compete moving forward. This rules out the most obvious move in attempting to bring back Tyreek Hill. The former Chiefs star would be at the top of the list, but isn't known to be on the market.

On the other hand, Odell remains a free agent and sent a message earlier in the offseason that his career wasn't close to over. If there is anyone capable of breathing life back into the career of the star, it is Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. It wouldn't be the first time the Chiefs have taken on a failing player and brought life back. JuJu Smith-Schuster is one example at the receiver position who has found ways to contribute after it appeared his career was all but over.

Beckham now finds himself in this same position and needs someone to take a chance. The Chiefs level of desperation to find production at the position at least makes it a consideration. The veteran has 59 career touchdowns and 7,987 career receiving yards. His last productive season was in the 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens.

Before this, the pass catcher had great runs with the Rams, Giants, and Browns. If there is anything left in the tank, the Chiefs would be the organization to figure it out. More accurately, Kansas City has little other choice with it appearing that both Worthy and Rice are lost for the next weeks of the season.

Patrick Mahomes needs more help than currently sits on the Kansas City roster, forcing the franchise to look at desperate options. Odell qualifies as this, but there is legitimate hope that perhaps the dynastic franchise could breathe a bit of life back into his career.
