Chiefs Rookie Shockingly Made Inactive for Week 11 Game vs. Bills
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs have officially told fans what they think about promising second-round rookie Kingsley Suamataia, declaring him inactive after a truly disastrous performance filling in for Wanya Morris in Week 10.
Suamataia was unplayable against the Broncos. While Kansas City beat their division rivals on a miracle, the coaching staff clearly doesn't believe Sumataia can be trusted.
Instead of the BYU rookie serving as Morris' backup, undrafted rookie Ethan Driskell out of Marshall will be the primary swing tackle and fill in should Morris or right tackle Jawaan Taylor suffer an injury.
Chiefs Demote Kingsley Suamataia in Favor of Ethan Driskell
Driskell will make his NFL debut. Suamtataia, meanwhile, has seemingly been demoted to a third-string role. It's no surprise to fans who've been watching, though it'll be interesting to see how Driskell performs.
He was a surprise inclusion to the initial roster after training camp. Drisekll's six-foot-eight stature makes him a true bruiser, and it's clear Andy Reid believes he gives this team a better chance to compete in the biggest game of the year.
Suamataia still has a bright future, yet even teammates believe his confidence needs some help. After being tossed aside by Denver's stout defensive line, it's in the rookie's best interest to get some more development before being trusted in a big moment.
The Bills have a solid, not spectacular, defensive line. This could've been a moment that Suamataia shined if his number was called, but the team will instead trust Driskell.
It's a huge decision for such a critical game and one that'll loom large for the rest of the campaign.
