Since the Kansas City Chiefs have made deep playoff runs the last seven years, they’ve had to pick towards the end of each round. Even though they miss out on the top prospects, they are still able to find gems no matter what pick they have.
Their ability to consistently hit on picks has played a huge part in their success. They were able to snag Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis III, and Isiah Pacheco in the 2022 draft, and had Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy fall into their laps the following years.
Yet again, they got their hands on another talented player, left tackle Josh Simmons, who already looks like another steal for the Chiefs.
In just 42 preseason snaps, it looks like the Chiefs have found their long-term left tackle. Although he received an overall grade of 61.3 per PFF, he was stellar as a pass-blocker, receiving an 84.1 in 26 pass-blocking snaps.

Josh Simmons Already Looking Like a Massive Steal
That’s where Simmons excelled last year, receiving an 82 pass blocking grade before suffering a torn ACL. Before the injury, Simmons was regarded as one of the best left tackles in the draft and a potential top-ten pick. However, Simmons would fall to the last pick in the first, and was the fourth tackle to be selected.
Although the injury hurt his draft stock, it hasn’t hindered his performance. That was evident in just a matter of a few practices, as Simmons earned the starting left tackle job much earlier than anticipated.
Throughout training camp and preseason, Simmons has been the same dominant player from college and has continuously put in the work. His work ethic and play have earned praise from Andy Reid, which is a great thing for Chiefs’ fans to hear.
Let’s hope that the addition of Simmons bolsters the Chiefs’ line back to their dominance, as Patrick Mahomes was sacked a career-high 36 times last season.
