Chiefs' Rival Makes Big Trade on Monday Right Before Deadline
The NFL trade deadline is in just over 24 hours, which means teams are making their final decision on what players to keep or trade. The Kansas City Chiefs' AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos, have already shipped one of their defenders off.
According to Tom Pelissero, the Broncos have sent edge rusher Baron Browning to the Arizona Cardinals.
Broncos Trade Third-Round LB to Cardinals
Browning was drafted by the Broncos in 2021 but has made a decent impact against the Chiefs. In five career games against Kansas City, Browning had five sacks, 19 tackles, and one forced fumble. Three of Browning's five sacks against the Chiefs came in a single performance, so although it looks like he had a sack per game, he did not.
Throughout the rest of Browning's career with the Broncos, he had 4.5 sacks, 95 tackles, and one forced fumble. From those stats, it seems like Browning played with a little more fire against the Chiefs.
Browning's departure from the Broncos comes after they lost 41-10 to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. That loss put the Broncos at 5-4 on the season. While the Broncos' chances of winning the division are slim because of the Chiefs' undefeated record, they aren't none.
The two rivals still face each other twice this season. Their first matchup is November 10th in Kansas City. Then, the two teams meet again in Week 18 in Denver.
That upcoming matchup will show just how close the Broncos are to the Chiefs. One thing is for certain though, the Broncos moving on from Browning could help the Chiefs in future matchups more than anyone realizes.
