Currently, the Kansas City Chiefs only have three wide receivers under contract going into the offseason. Therefore, the Chiefs must add more depth through free agency and the draft. While they may be able to bring back a few of the veterans they had in 2025 on team-friendly deals, the smarter option may be to add rookies later in the draft.
That said, the NFL Combine wrapped up on Sunday, and reports are beginning to surface about which players met with which teams. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston (NBC affiliate), the Chiefs met with Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond last week during the combine. Bond's meeting with Kansas City could prove to be important in the team's plans in free agency.

Chiefs Meeting With Wide Receiver Isaiah Bond Could Be Pivotal in 2025 Plans
Bond's speed provides a great fit for Kansas City's offense. This past season, the Chiefs signed Marquise "Hollywood' Brown to be the team's vertical threat. Unfortunately, Brown got injured in the preseason opener and missed most of the season. While Brett Veach has made it clear he would like to keep Brown, Bond is younger and can do similar things to Brown.
In 2024, with the Texas Longhorns, Bond recorded 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns. While his overall production wasn't eye-popping, his 15.9 yards per catch showcased his big-play ability. Due to the threat of his speed, Texas deployed the 20-year-old receiver as a decoy a lot.
Yet, that doesn't mean he isn't an NFL-ready receiver. According to Bond's draft profile on NFL.com, he's a capable route runner with good hands who can play out wide or in the slot. Comparing Bond's profile to Xaiver Worthy, who the Chiefs drafted last year out of Texas, he seems like a more complete player.
That said, Worthy did grow into his role this past season. So, if Bond is truly a better, more well-rounded receiver, he should excel in Kansas City's offense straight away. Bleacher Report currently projects Bond as a third-round pick.
However, they had the same grade on Worthy last season, and the Chiefs took him in the first round. Thus, there's a possibility Bond doesn't last till round three, but if he does, the Chiefs must draft him.
