Preseason numbers are often subjective for Kansas City Chiefs fans who have no reason for concern about the summer results. As long as core players are able to head into the regular season healthy, there is little reason to take anything of note away from the games. Still, it is difficult not to notice how locked in

Patrick Mahomes has looked good in brief preseason appearances. The veteran quarterback has a chip on his shoulder not only because of how the 2024 season ended, but also because of the never-ending disrespect. Every year, the starter reaches the top of the mountain, and pundits are all too anxious to find someone who could replace the star. It is boredom with the consistent level of greatness that the face of Kansas City is continually putting on display.

Mahomes has reached a level few have ever neared, and the consistent domination bores hot take artists looking for the next best thing. It hasn't gone unnoticed by Mahomes, who has a bit of Michael Jordan in him in how the quarterback internalizes the outside noise. With this in mind, perhaps the preseason hot streak is a sign of things to come.

Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Already Appears to be in Midseason Form

A lot of attention has been focused on the way defenses and a lack of elite weapons have forced the quarterback to play. It is a quiet approach of moving the sticks a handful of yards at a time, dinking and dunking down the field. This is due to a lack of trust in the past two years of weapons and how the defense approaches the 2x MVP.

It has been noted not only by the media but by Mahomes himself that the star wants to return to an explosive style of offense. With Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice both healthy to start the season, this seems extremely likely. Add in the solid preseason performance, and fans should be feeling great about where the veteran is heading into the season.

Mahomes finished the final preseason game 8/13 for 143 yards and a lone touchdown in limited action. It was a vanilla offense with Andy Reid wisely saving his best tricks for when the games actually begin to count. Still, the quarterback put together a strong performance and looks ready to begin the year hot.

Something Kansas City fans have grown to expect with Reid and Mahomes having a historic September record. One that is about to be further improved is the preseason was any indication.
