Chiefs Proposed as Best Landing Spot for Top WR Trade Target
The Kansas City Chiefs are 5-0 as they head into Week 7. They had a much-needed bye week that allowed them to rest up. It's been a brutal first couple of weeks on the injury front.
They have lost Isiah Pacheco for an extended period of time, while Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice are out for the year. They had Juju Smith-Schuster give them a monster performance in Week 5, logging seven catches for 130 yards and a touchdown. Now he popped up on the injury report with a hamstring injury, putting his status for Week 7 in the air.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes also said he's confident with the WRs on the roster but that doesn't mean they shouldn't add more to the position.
CBS Sports Tyler Sullivan dropped an article talking about one move that each contender should make on the trade market.
He had the Chiefs on the list and believes they should look to acquire Carolina Panthers receiver Diontae Johnson.
"While the Chiefs have first-round pick Xavier Worthy and saw production from JuJu Smith-Schuster before the bye, they need another top pass-catching option for Patrick Mahomes. That's where Johnson comes into play. Even on a poor Carolina offense, Johnson has been productive and could quickly become a top target for Mahomes."

He's right and a playmaker like Johnson would do wonders for Kansas City. The Toledo product is a nifty route runner with secure hands. He can win on all three levels of the field and would elevate Kansas City's passing attack. In 2024, Johnson has 29 receptions for 340 yards and three touchdowns.
He's going to be a free agent after the season and is worth a Day three draft pick. Davante Adams and Amari Cooper were shipped out for third-round picks. With Carolina rebuilding, it would likely cost the Chiefs a fourth or fifth-rounder to land Johnson.
Even if they don't want to re-sign him during the offseason, it's worth adding him as a one-year flyer as they chase their third straight Super Bowl title.
