The Kansas City Chiefs may catch a break against the Denver Broncos when the two AFC West rivals do battle at Empower Field at Mile High if NFL Network's Tom Pellisero's recent report is any indication, anyway.

Per Pellisero's source, Dobbins "suffered a foot injury on what appeared to be a hip-drop tackle Thursday night against the Raiders and is awaiting a second opinion." Dobbins never left Denver's 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders besides a few plays to walk on the sidelines.

Dobbins wasn't happy about the injury, writing on X, "Ban or at least call the m***** f****** hip drop tackle!" Raiders defensive lineman Tyree Wilson was the culprit on the second-half play. Dobbins only made it worse by returning.

Dobbins has an extra half week to recover for the November 16 clash with Kansas City after the short week in Week 10. It's possible he ends up recovering in time to suit up. At best, though, Dobbins may be banged up if he suits up at all. And that's a gut punch, since Dobbins leads the team in rushing yards (772) and rushing touchdowns (4).

Chiefs Need Help Any Help They Can Get With Run Defense

The Chiefs have been particularly vulnerable against the run during the 2025 season, particularly on a per-carry basis. If the Broncos are going to take advantage of Kansas City on that side of the ball, it'd be through a ground assault.

Do they have the personnel with RJ Harvey and a largely unproven Tyler Badie? There's a reason the latter hasn't gotten much of a chance in the Broncos' backfield since being drafted and spending several years on the team.

Bo Nix could be thrust into a maximum-usage role against the Chiefs. While his struggling passing game may meet its match, Nix could look to assume a large chunk of the running game. If Steve Spagnuolo knows Nix is going to be holding the ball for most of the game, his job is that much easier.

Kansas City looks to be in good shape for their next divisional game if the injury report doesn't see any significant updates on the Dobbins front. As the Chiefs look to climb out of their early-season hole, it looks like another AFC West team may have helped them with a dirty play.

The Chiefs are 2.5 games back from the Broncos in the AFC West standings, which is a tough place for Kansas City, who have a much-needed bye this week.
