The Kansas City Chiefs had to wait a while to watch their second-round pick from this year's draft take the field. Omarr-Norman Lott missed Week 1 with an ankle injury, but he got right up to speed with a big sack on Jalen Hurts in Week 2.

Now, with a couple of games under his belt, it seems like defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is getting ready to give him a longer leash. According to Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports, Spagnuolo likes his attention to detail.

Omarr-Norman Lott Was Angry About a Missed Sack

"Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo says Ashton Gillotte continues to get better and better. On Omarr Norman-Lott, he says that the rookie is getting back into the swing of things. Said ONL was pretty disappointed on his missed sack, but that it was a learning point on playing smaller QBs," Goldman wrote on X.

Norman Lott failed to get to Russell Wilson in Week 3, but he still made the most of his limited playing time. He logged 16 snaps in Week 2 and 22 in Week 3, and that number should only trend up now that he's getting up to speed.

He's already made a strong impression in the locker room. Following his debut, fellow defensive tackle Chris Jones tipped his hat to him, gushing about the potential impact he can have on the team as a pass-rusher:

“It was a very physical sack. He’s a huge guy with that ability,” Jones said, per A to Z Sports. “I think we drafted him in the second round just for that, and he came out and made a big statement today. It’s something we can build off of and add him to the rotation. I’m glad to have him back.”

That's a lot of praise coming from a future first-ballot Hall of Famer and one of the most disruptive defensive forces of his generation. It's hard to think of a better mentor for him, and Norman Lott needs to pick his brain and absorb as much information as he can.

Mike Danna has struggled with injuries, and while he returned to practice and looks poised to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, Norman Lott has already shown that he deserves to be on the field early and often.

Keeping up with the Baltimore Ravens' stout running game will be a collective effort, and not many rookies should be trusted against Derrick Henry. Fortunately for the Chiefs, their second-round pick isn't like most rookies.
