The Chiefs are evaluating potential cornerback additions following the unfortunate Jaylen Watson injury. One signing would reunite a former All-Pro with the organization though it could ruffle some feathers.

31-year-old veteran Marcus Peters is still a free agent but was still fairly effective last year with the Raiders. Considering his proven skills as a turnover machine and difference-maker, Peters would be an intriguing option to provide depth in the secondary.

Since Kansas City already reunited with Kareem Hunt and JuJu Smith-Schuster, why not throw another familiar face into the mix?

Chiefs Have Option to Reunite with CB Marcus Peters

Adding Peters would obviously be a controversial move. He was the subject of much debate before his trade, though this could be another fun chance to give a player beloved by some an opportunity to win a ring before hanging his cleats up.

During his three years with the franchise, Peters was a two-time All-Pro and compiled 151 tackles, 19 interceptions and five forced fumbles. He was one of the best ballhawks in the NFL. At this point in his career, the hope is that he's matured enough to reduce the distractions leading to his departure.

There are a lot of options for Brett Veach on the free agency market and via trade. Peters should be a consideration if the team thinks he still has some gas left in the tank, especially if he only served as a backup to come in on sets requiring additional defensive backs.

Since he's still looking for work, Peters could be had at a minimal salary. If things didn't work out, Kansas City could let him lose once again. That being said, he could be an under-the-radar gem should he find the form that made him one of the league's most dangerous cornerbacks.
