It is hard to point to any clear holes for the Kansas City Chiefs when you consider the team has played in three straight Super Bowls. Still, if there is one consistent complaint from Kansas City fans, it is a desire to see the old version of Patrick Mahomes. The quarterback who had the benefit of Tyreek Hill and prime Travis Kelce. This gave the offense the ability to take a gunslinging approach that was arguably the most enjoyable offensive football to watch in franchise history.
While a piece of the step back in this approach is due to defensive adjustments, the bigger issue has been a lack of reliable targets. If there is one move left to be made, it is adding an additional weapon for Mahomes and Andy Reid to utilize in the team's attempt to reach a fourth straight Super Bowl. With this in mind, one potential target stands out as a perfect reclamation project for the prestige franchise.
Chiefs Are Best Remaining Fit for Tight End Kyle Pitts
The Atlanta Falcons haven't been shy about the team's frustration with pass catcher Kyle Pitts. After a stellar rookie season, the production has fallen off a cliff, leading to questions about effort and offensive scheme. Whatever the reasoning, the talent of the tight end didn't disappear, and there is no better team to unlock it than the Chiefs.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes won back-to-back Super Bowls while elevating average receivers. This included scheming speedster Mecole Hardman into catching the game-winner in overtime of the Super Bowl. To say that the duo are talent elevators is a vast understatement. If there is any team capable of elevating Pitts back to elite production, it is the Chiefs.
While Atlanta marches to the beat of its own drum when it comes to managing its roster, there have been consistent trade rumblings. It is noteworthy that Pitts didn't take part in OTAs and remains in trade rumors dating back to the end of the season.
It seems an early-day two pick might be enough to get the deal done in what would be a rental for the 2025 season. While this is a high price to pay for a lone season, the potential elite ability of the pass catcher makes the fit far too enticing not to consider. No question, Kyle Pitts should be a future Chief if the pass catcher is truly going to be moved this offseason.
