The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated after a 28-12 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of Super Bowl 58 on Sunday. While the Chiefs came out victorious, their depleted wide receiver room reared its ugly head again.

Patrick Mahomes finished the day 16/27 for 154 passing yards and had two interceptions. Tight end Noah Gray led the team with four catches for 66 yards. The next best receiver was rookie Xavier Worthy, who had three catches for 19 yards.

Worthy was also responsible for one of Mahomes' interceptions, slipping on a corner route and causing him to not be at the spot the ball was thrown to. The wide receiving corps' lack of production and mistakes continue to show why the Chiefs need to add another receiver to their room by the trade deadline.

Although head coach Andy Reid has said that the Chiefs would prefer to bring in a player that Mahomes is comfortable with, that doesn't mean that aren't looking at all options. One under-the-radar trade candidate would be Titans receiver Tyler Boyd, the former Bengals standout whom Kansas City is quite familiar with.

Chiefs Land WR Tyler Boyd in Projected Trade

Boyd

After seven weeks, the Tennessee Titans sit at 1-5 with a seemingly complete roster except for quarterback. Will Levis has severely underperformed, meaning the Titans could become massive sellers of their veterans at the deadline. Although Boyd just signed with the Titans this past offseason, he is a veteran and expendable.

Throughout his first eight seasons in the NFL, Boyd caught 68% of his passes (513 receptions on 753 targets) for 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns. This season, Boyd has 18 catches on 24 targets for 170 yards and zero touchdowns.

While Boyd has seen fewer targets this season with the Titans, he has still been reliable when targeted. That is not something that can be said about most of the receivers that the Chiefs are currently playing.

Even though Boyd doesn't possess the speed of Worthy or the injured Rashee Rice, getting Mahomes a reliable target like him would be a huge boost to the offense. The trade for Boyd most likely wouldn't cost much, either.

Since the Chiefs have two seventh-round picks, this is a move that makes sense for both sides.
