Chiefs Kicker Throws Shade at Team He Rejected to Play in KC
The Kansas City Chiefs are 10-1 on the season and are coming off a 30-27 win over the Carolina Panthers.
This matchup was closer than the Chiefs would have hoped for, but a win is a win. Even though Harrison Butker is on IR with a knee injury, they had Spencer Shrader step up massively. He went 3-of-3 on both field goal and extra point attempts, in addition to a game-winning 31-yard field goal.
After the game, Shrader spoke highly of the Chiefs organization and took a jab at the New York Jets in the process.
Chiefs News: Spencer Shrader Thrilled To Be On Chiefs Roster
Shrader was asked following the Week 12 win why he chose Kansas City over New York.
"I wanted to be around an elite staff, elite players, everyone is very on top of things here... I'm gaining value just by being a part of this place, being a part of this organization."
- Spencer Shrader
These statements aren't surprising when you look at the dumpster fire happening over in New York with the Jets. They are 3-8 after firing both their head coach and general manager over the past couple of weeks. They entered the season with high hopes but fell flat on their face.
The Chiefs signed Shrader from New York's practice squad on Nov. 15.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs are tied for the best record in the NFL and are seeking their third straight Super Bowl. Although Butker is slated to return later this season, this is a better opportunity for Shrader in both the present and the future, as this will be a great audition for other teams.
Shrader definitely made the right choice and it was on full display against the Panthers.
