Chiefs fans woke up to troubling news on Saturday that their young wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on domestic violence charges. He was charged with assault on a family member by impeding their breath or circulation and was booked into jail by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Texas. The Chiefs said they were aware of the incident and were gathering information.

As of now, we know little of this horrifying incident. We will learn more once criminal proceedings begin. While the legal process takes precedence here, there will likely be consequences for the Chiefs and their plans for the 2025 season and beyond. Regardless of where the criminal case goes, Worthy is at risk of facing suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy.

In light of the troubling situation, the Chiefs made a move ahead of free agency that could potentially protect themselves in case of a Worthy absence.

NFL News: Chiefs Re-Sign WR Hollywood Brown

Per NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs are re-signing Hollywood Brown to a one-year, $11 million deal. With only two days left until the negotiating period begins for free agents, the Chiefs decided not to risk losing another wide receiver.

This will be the second one-year deal Brown signs with the Chiefs. His first year in Kansas City was a star-crossed one as he suffered a sternoclavicular injury during the preseason and couldn't play until Week 16. He became an important part of the offense in the last stretch of the regular season and the playoffs, but the Chiefs obviously expected more from him when they signed him.

The Chiefs hope Brown can turn back the clock to his 1,000+ yard season with the Ravens in 2021. With his big-play ability and impressive speed and athleticism, Brown has the chance to have a bounce-back season amidst a potentially depleted WR rotation.
