The Kansas City Chiefs are busy gearing up for their Week 9 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football. While Kansas City enters this game a perfect 7-0, this team has still dealt with some hurdles during the 2024 season, especially on the injury front.

One player who'll be absent once again this week is top running back Isiah Pacheco, as he's rehabbing from a serious leg injury from the start of the year. However, it turns out the Chiefs may not be without Pacheco for much longer.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided a massive update on Pacheco on Sunday. The insider said the physical runner is expected to begin practicing in the next two-to-three weeks. Additionally, Rapoport claims a "late November" return to full action is in Pacheco's sights.

This is wonderful news for the Chiefs, especially with their focus already on the postseason. KC has gotten by without Pacheco so far, in large part of Kareem Hunt immediately picking up most of the slack, but the attention is now on making a return trip to the Super Bowl with this squad clicking on all cylinders.

Pacheco's return only strengthens the Chiefs' chances of surviving the playoff gauntlet. He was a huge X-factor for Andy Reid's squad last postseason, totaling 313 yards on the ground over four games along with three touchdowns.

An in-his-prime Pacheco also commands much more respect from defenses than Hunt, who's clearly not as explosive as he once was. That makes Patrick Mahomes' job easier if the opposition has to focus on stopping the run as well.

Late November or early December is the perfect time for Pacheco to return, as he'll get several games to regain his pre-injury form ahead of the playoffs.
