The Kansas City Chiefs punched their ticket to a third consecutive Super Bowl appearance on Sunday, defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29. Kansas City now has a chance to do something no other team in NFL history has done, win a third straight Super Bowl, which would cement them as one of the best dynasties in all of sports.

That said, general manager Brett Veach seems laser-focused on figuring out what players will be back with the Chiefs in 2025. Veach identifying which players he would like to bring back is extremely important, given Kansas City's cap situation. Following the AFC Championship game, Veach spoke about Kareem Hunt's season and the possibility of him returning next year.

Veach said, "I’m so excited for him. … The kid has grown & learned & is grateful to be here. We’re grateful he’s here. I’m so happy for him & he’s been so critical to our success. Hopefully, we’ll have continued success with him," according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

Kareem Hunt May Return to Kansas City in 2025

Veach's strong backing of Hunt's growth may fall on deaf ears for some fans. Given Hunt's domestic violence case the first time he was with the Chiefs, it's understandable if he can never recover from that in your eyes.

However, for fans who separate personal life from football, Veach's stance on Hunt returning in 2025 could be appealing. This season, Hunt rushed for 728 yards and seven touchdowns on 200 carries in the regular season. Moreover, so far in the postseason, Hunt has rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries

Hunt was originally brought back to fill in for Isiah Pacheco while he was injured, and he played well. Once Pacheco returned, fans expected Hunt to be more of an RB2, but Reid went with whichever back looked better during that particular week. Hunt's powerful running has helped set the tone in many games this season.

Veach bringing the soon-to-be 31-year-old back next season wouldn't be a terrible idea as long as his role is slightly reduced next season.
