The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the best teams in the NFL at identifying talent late in the NFL draft and even after the draft. Several UDFA additions have made a significant impact over the last 5 or so years. Guys like Malik Herring, Turk Wharton, Charvarius Ward and several others have contributed to the Chiefs, who have been the best team in the NFL over the past decade.

Yet again this year, the Chiefs brought in a significant class of undrafted free agents (UDFAs), with several players who could make the roster and provide immediate impact in Kansas City. Several of these players the Chiefs added after the draft will have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot in 2025 and beyond. Kansas City was quick to add numerous players after the draft, and defensive back Glendon Miller was one of the guys they targeted just a few minutes after the event concluded.

Players left after the draft provide little to no risk, and releasing them or adding them to the practice squad does not cause significant detriment to the team. Because of this, making the roster can be a tall task, and when a UDFA can make the roster, even just as a depth guy or special teamer, it can be immensely valuable to the team. In this year's class, Glendon Miller has quickly become the guy I think can provide that value for the Chiefs in 2025 and beyond.

Chiefs Found UDFA Steal in DB Glendon Miller

Miller was an incredible development story at Maryland, as he started his career as a corner, but after struggling some, converted to safety, where he found significantly more success. Miller grabbed seven interceptions and combined for 76 tackles over his last two years at Maryland after converting to safety. Miller now enters a Kansas City defensive back room that is loaded with talent but will need depth, which he can provide at several positions.

While Miller struggled at corner at the college level, his frame and athletic ability suggest that he could find success there with some development. Miller has had some success in the box as well as in the slot, where he has proven to be solid in man coverage with top-notch ball skills. He also possesses a great feel for the game and true football IQ to make impact plays over the top and on special teams.

When you look at the Chiefs' depth chart, there is plenty of opportunity for Miller to make the roster. Deon Bush and Mike Williams have experience in the Chiefs system, but both are on small one-year deals and can easily be moved on from. At corner, he can compete with guys like Christian Roland-Wallace (a former UDFA himself) and Nazeeh Johnson for a spot as a depth corner and special teamer. Kansas City could also opt to keep a fifth safety if they don't have a definitive guy they feel comfortable moving on from in the secondary.

There are several UDFA players the Chiefs were able to add that could provide value and have been talked about quite a bit this offseason. Guys like Eddie Czaplicki, Esa Pole and Elijah Badger have been popular names of guys who could crack the opening day roster, and Glendon Miller has flown under the radar. But I think that he may have the best odds of any UDFA added by the Chiefs to make the roster and have an impact in 2025.
