The Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed a busy offseason, mostly highlighted by the significant roster turnover the team has gone through following the blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, which spoiled a three-peat bid.

After losing guys like All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and veteran safety Justin Reid, the organization invested in the cornerback room, understanding that Trent McDuffie will soon become one of the highest-paid players in the league at that position.

They brought in Kristian Fulton and drafted third-rounder Nohl Williams, indicating that the front office and coaching staff weren't happy with the state of the defensive back group. That's understandable, but it does mean that one Super Bowl champion could be traded in the near future.

Chiefs CB Joshua Williams Would be an Excellent Trade Candidate for Kansas City

2022 fourth-round selection Joshua Williams, who has been a great contributor both in the secondary and on special teams, is clearly on thin ice.

He was benched to end the year and didn't play a single defensive snap during the playoffs, even seeing struggling guys like Nazeeh Johnson and Chris Roland-Wallace play ahead of him. That's a bad sign for his future, and it feels like the Chiefs are preparing fans for his inevitable departure.

General manager Brett Veach is known for his ability to secure quality corners late in the draft, and Williams is a great example. While he's a mid-round pick, you can look to guys like Chamarri Conner and even Nazeeh Johnson as positive results based on the draft value. Williams, however, now faces a long uphill climb to make the final 53-man roster.

He's a strong special teams player, though his path to playing time is murky. McDuffie, Fulton, Jaylen Watson, and Nohl Williams are all seemingly ahead of him, while Johnson, Conner, and Roland-Wallace all played more snaps in the playoffs.

At this point, it looks like fans wouldn't be surprised to see Joshua Williams traded, nor should they be.
