Kansas City Chiefs fans have nervously been wondering whether or not this will be superstar tight end Travis Kelce's final year with the organization, as he's publicly mulled retirement and possibly would have left the game if the team won the Super Bowl last year.
They didn't, and now it's become fairly clear that fans should expect the 2025-26 season will be Kelce's final in the NFL.
It's roster cutdown day, and the Chiefs are focused on handling the numerous transactions, but Kelce's latest announcement is obviously the biggest story of the day.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Announces Engagement to Taylor Swift
In official Instagram posts published on Tuesday, Kelce and Taylor Swift officially announced their engagement with a loving caption, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."
This was expected to happen eventually, but it signals multiple important things for Chiefs Kingdom. First, every national pundit who thought the relationship was a sham now looks goofy. Second, the city should be thrilled that one of the native sons and most successful players in franchise history will now be married to one of the most famous people on the planet.
Third, and most importantly, Kelce is entering his last season. It's not a coincidence that ESPN's Nate Taylor published an article Tuesday morning talking about Kelce's preparation for what could be his final year in the league. These two are represented by some of the smartest public relations teams available, and the timing feels like an obvious plan.
Kelce has a career waiting for him after football. He gave an excellent cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, has hosted Saturday Night Live, and expects to become a Hollywood actor once he hangs up the cleats. There's no reason for him to continue wrecking his body, and he's already considered to be perhaps the best tight end in NFL history.
It'll be sad when Kelce eventually hangs up the cleats, though the Chiefs are in good hands as long as Brett Veach, Andy Reid, and Patrick Mahomes are around. For now, Kansas City should be joyful for Kelce and wish him the best.
If this is indeed the last season that fans get to see No. 87 on the field, they'd better enjoy it. Expectations are that he'll retire now, so the Chiefs need to do everything in their power to support him for the next few months.
Either way, it's thrilling news for Kelce and the lovely couple should be celebrated.
