The Kansas City Chiefs' three-peat bid ended with a whimper as the team was decimated by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 in the Super Bowl on Sunday night. Patrick Mahomes endured perhaps the worst game of his career, though there's more than enough blame to go around the entire team.

Andy Reid's game plan left the Chiefs doomed from the start. They were shut out in the first half and Mahomes threw two interceptions as Philadelphia built an insurmountable lead, leaving the two-time defending champions with no real chance to make a comeback.

While Reid didn't get his team ready to play, a different coach is drawing the ire of fans. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, whose promotion to the role coincided with Mahomes' statistical downfall over the last few seasons, is quite unpopular at the moment. Numerous social media posts are calling for his firing as many of Kansas City's mistakes felt self-inflicted.

Chiefs Fans Calling for Matt Nagy's Firing After Super Bowl Loss

The last post, in particular, strikes a key point. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco had a mere three carries each. Despite the Eagles' clear advantage over the Chiefs' offensive line in passing situations, Kansas City ignored offensive balance and left Mahomes out to dry. It was obvious early that the Chiefs' line couldn't hold, yet the coaching staff stubbornly refused to make adjustments.

Nagy's job is almost certainly safe. He's trusted in the organization, Mahomes loves him, and he's a Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator. Besides, it's recognized that this is Reid's offense. Nagy doesn't call plays, so what change would we see from firing him?

Nonetheless, fans have a right to be frustrated. Sunday went as poorly as it could have. The three-peat dreams are dead, and now we'll spend an entire offseason listening to talking heads ask if the Chiefs' run is over. Expect to see more calls for Nagy's job in the coming days as fans process the impact of the blowout loss.

Many difficult decisions will come in the coming months. Regardless of what fans may say though, Nagy will remain in his role in 2025 barring a stunning turn of events.
