Chiefs fans can only laugh at division rival's absurd comparison

Broncos OC Davis Webb had some strong comments over the weekend about Bo Nix.

The Kansas City Chiefs couldn't help but pay attention this past week as a division rival opted to compare itself to another KC rival. Denver's offensive coordinator, Davis Webb, understandably spent time talking up the Broncos' new addition, receiver Jaylen Waddle. However, the coordinator took things a step too far, comparing Bo Nix and Waddle to the once-elite duo of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, acting as if the combinations were anything close, with KC being in a unique position to weigh in on what is a laughable comparison.

Josh Allen is a far superior quarterback to Bo Nix in every measurable way. Whether you're talking about raw talent or numbers, everything tilts strongly in Allen's direction. This is a quarterback who has yet to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs, but is a guy who has time and again elevated himself in big moments of his career.

Webb's comparison comes after Kansas City had the first poor season of Mahomes' career, going 6-11, and allowing the Broncos to gain confidence despite having a 2-13 career record against Mahomes. The idea of the Broncos' current receiver and quarterback tandem being anything close to that of Buffalo's past duo is laughable and serves as a reminder of the elite advantage the Chiefs have.

Chiefs can only laugh at Denver's absurd comparison to rival

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are an elite duo that is far more fearsome than Waddle and Nix, even at this late stage of Kelce's career. This was evidenced by the fact that the veteran tight end finished as the team's leading receiver a season ago despite the offense struggling and Mahomes missing the end of the season with a torn ACL.

Webb is making an understandable effort here to talk his offense up and build the confidence of a new quarterback and receiver duo. However, this should've been accomplished without invoking one of the most accomplished playoff duos we've seen outside of Kansas City.

While the Chiefs unquestionably own the Bills, there is a level of respect that Allen has earned, making the comparison utterly ridiculous. Kansas City cannot help but poke fun at it, realizing that Denver is overreacting to one division title after years of being dominated by Kansas City.

It's a feeling the franchise should quickly remember in the 2026 season as the Chiefs appear poised to return to their former dominance. The arrival of Waddle isn't changing the fact that Nix is, at best, the third most talented quarterback in the division, behind Justin Herbert and Mahomes.

To put it simply, Nix is a limited signal caller who has been given a receiver who spent the last years starring behind Tyreek Hill; there is no reason to fear this duo, with it being highly unlikely they prove otherwise.
