They should've made a move.

The Kansas City Chiefs started their offseason with a bang. Stealing the reigning Super Bowl MVP was a huge win, and Kenneth Walker III looks like the perfect guy to help Andy Reid establish the run again once and for all.

However, that wasn't the only problem with the offense. The passing game also left plenty to be desired, and some of that had to do with the lack of playmakers. That's why signing another big-name wide receiver looked like a given.

The New England Patriots gift-wrapped Stefon Diggs for the Chiefs. It's been weeks since they cut ties with him, and he looks perfect for what Andy Reid needs right now. However, GM Brett Veach may not feel the same way.

Stefon Diggs Should be a No-Brainer Signing for the Chiefs

The Chiefs re-signed Tyquan Thornton, lost Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, and will most likely lose JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency. Notably, Diggs would probably be more productive than all three of them combined, even at this point in his career.

He's dealing with some issues off the field and didn't make much of an impact in the playoffs, but he's still a playmaker with reliable hands. Last season was a down year for him, and he still had 85 catches on 102 targets for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

Rashee Rice might face another suspension and has proven that he cannot be trusted to stay on the field. Xavier Worthy was hurt and not much of a factor in his second year in the league, Travis Kelce is entering his final year, and Patrick Mahomes simply needs more weapons.

Spotrac projects Diggs' market value at $13.8 million per year. According to Over The Cap, the Chiefs only have $6.7 million in available cap space, so they would probably have to get a little creative to make room for Diggs.

That said, the lack of traction with other teams might allow the Chiefs to work something out with him. It's not like other teams are lining up to get him, and the Kansas City would provide Diggs another chance at something he's wanted for years now: A chance to play for a ring.

Diggs had never been that close to a championship, and another heartbreak, this time with the New England Patriots, might lead them right to the team that often got the best of him in the playoffs. It makes too much sense, and it's a shame the Chiefs haven't pulled the trigger yet.
