The Kansas City Chiefs have been hustling the last couple of years to reload their wide receiver room and give Patrick Mahomes some fresh weapons to work with.

Back in 2023, the Chiefs grabbed Rashee Rice in the second round, and he wasted no time making himself at home. Dude came in hot, snagging 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. He was cooking again early in 2024 before an injury hit the brakes—still, in just four games, he had 24 grabs for 288 yards and two scores.

Then, the Chiefs doubled down in 2024 and went big with their first-round pick, snagging Xavier Worthy. Worthy is a walking highlight reel. In his rookie year, he posted 59 catches, 638 yards, and six touchdowns, and added another 100+ yards and three scores on the ground for good measure.

That same year, Kansas City also brought back JuJu Smith-Schuster and added Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Both vets are still on deck for 2025.

Then came the potential diamond in the rough—Jalen Royals, a fourth-round pick this year who’s already flashing some serious upside in offseason workouts.

Put all that together—Rice, Worthy, JuJu, Hollywood, and Royals—and the top of the Chiefs’ receiver depth chart is locked tighter than Fort Knox. That leaves little room for anyone trying to claw their way up from the bottom.

That could be a problem for Skyy Moore.

Skyy Moore Is on Shaky Footing in Kansas City

Moore was supposed to be a shiny new weapon for Mahomes when the Chiefs scooped him in the second round back in 2022. But so far, he’s been a disappointment.

His numbers have dipped every year like a rollercoaster stuck in a free fall—22 catches for 250 yards as a rookie, then 21 for 244 in Year 2.

He was a ghost last season. Just three targets in six games, no catches, and then a core injury shut the door on his season.

Now, Moore’s staring down the barrel of the final year of his rookie deal, and his seat is heating up fast. With the depth chart already deep, it’s a legit question whether Kansas City even keeps more than the Big Five at receiver. If not, Skyy might be skywriting his way off the roster.

He’s got one shot left to show he belongs—and it starts in training camp. If he doesn’t come in firing on all cylinders, he might not even make it to Week 1. Moore better be sleeping with one eye open, cause the clock is ticking.
