The NFL Draft is an inexact science, and the Kansas City Chiefs fan base knows that as well as any in the league.
As fortunate as the Chiefs have been with some picks working out even better than they'd ever hoped, there have been others that didn't live up to expectations and had short tenures in Kansas City as a result.
While it did not work out for one former 2024 NFL Draft pick with the Chiefs, he is making a name for himself with another storied franchise, albeit one residing in the NFC, now that OTAs are off and running across the league.
Chiefs Draft Bust Kamal Hadden Breaking Out With Packers at OTAs
Kansas City's front office used a sixth-round pick, the 211th overall selection to be exact, on former Tennessee Volunteers standout cornerback Kamal Hadden. Unfortunately, Hadden's stint with the Chiefs was short as the defender was waived by the franchise in August 2024, just months after being drafted.
With Hadden now a member of the Green Bay Packers, it stings a bit to see Hadden being praised by his teammates as two-time All-Pro Keisean Nixon made it known to the media in attendance that the former Kansas City draft pick has been "outstanding" during Green Bay's OTAs.
The Chiefs have enjoyed enough success in recent years that seeing a draft pick that struggled in Kansas City find his footing elsewhere in the league isn't something that should change their thoughts on Hadden or anyone associated with the Chiefs' front office. While it would have been nice to see Hadden play at this level for Kansas City, the Chiefs were able to win the AFC and make another Super Bowl appearance in 2024 without him. This team will be just fine.
As for Hadden, there shouldn't be any hard feelings there. Kansas City gave him an opportunity, and it didn't work out. There is no reason why Chiefs fans shouldn't pull for him to succeed in his pursuit of an NFL career, as long as they aren't facing Kansas City that particular weekend.
