Chiefs Division Rival Already Making Starting QB Change After Just 5 Games
The Kansas City Chiefs are 5-0, despite being without Marquise Brown, Rashee Rice, and Isiah Pacheco. The Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings are the only two undefeated teams left in the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Raiders have dropped two of their last three games. They haven't been thrilled with their quarterback play and decided to make a change ahead of Week 6.
NFL News: Raiders Bench Gardner Minshew
Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce announced that Aidan O'Connell will be the starter against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Back in March, the Raiders gave Gardner Minshew a two-year, $25 million deal that included $15 million fully guaranteed. Over five games, he threw 1,014 yards and four passing touchdowns but is tied for the second most interceptions in the league (5).
Handing over the reins to O'Connell might be worse though. The Purdue product came in as relief last week against the Denver Broncos, going 10-of-20 for 94 yards and one pick.
Across 13 games with 10 starts, he's thrown for 2,394 yards, 13 passing touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The quarterback situation in Las Vegas is certainly one of the worst in the league and plays a role in why All-Pro receiver Devante Adams has requested a trade.
The Raiders have their work cut out for them over the next two weeks, going against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams. Then in Week 8, the Raiders travel to play against the Chiefs.
Kansas City has dominated this series in recent memory, winning 11 of the last 13 games. But despite this stretch, the Raiders topped Kansas City 20-14 in the last outing. And you know that's something that's on the Chiefs' mind.
