Chiefs Defender's Time in KC Will End Soon After SNF News
By Joe Summers
Chiefs DE Josh Uche was ruled an inactive before a Week 14 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Chargers, raising questions about whether general manager Brett Veach's trade was worth it.
After playing just one snap against the Raiders last week, Uche is a healthy scratch. Kansas City traded a mere late-round pick for his services, though it's impossible to argue the move was a good one.
Unfortunately, Uche is among the biggest busts this team has ever acquired.
Chiefs DE Josh Uche a Healthy Scratch in Week 14 vs. Chargers
After trading for Uche during the season, litte has suggested the ex-Patriot was worth the cost. Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo certainly don't believe he's capable or playing, creating significant doubt about Veach's decision to make the midseason trade.
Either way, Kansas City's pass rush has been the subject of much debate. It loioked better with Charles Omenihu on the outside in Week 13, though Uche was supposed to make a difference.
He hasn't made a large differnence, or any difference at all, since the trade. Even still, Uche might be one of the worst trades Veach has made in recent memeory. It didn't ultimately cost Kansas City anything, though it's still a negative mark on an otherwise sterling track record.
Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, Mike Danna, and Omenihu are the most important players on the defensive ilne. Here's hoping Uche delivers sooner than later, otherwise he represents a massive swing-and-a-miss for a general manager whose track record speaks for itself.
