The Kansas City Chiefs had a Week 6 bye week this season. Having that early of a bye meant the Chiefs have to play 11 games in a row.

Facing that type of gauntlet leaves the potential for player fatigue and injuries. The latter of the two the Chiefs really can't afford any more of after losing so many players to injury to begin the season.

Coming off their first loss of the season last week to the Buffalo Bills, fans might expect players to be a bit fatigued and upset over the first loss.

However, linebacker Drue Tranquill told reporters the opposite on Wednesday.

"“I don’t feel the dog days. We love it out here. We love it, the sun’s out, and it’s a beautiful day in Kansas City.” “I think we just have a ton of people that love to play football here, and they’ve done that through building the team the right way. And so we’re excited to be here, be 9-1, atop the AFC, with a chance to host playoff games at home. So we’re looking at Carolina (Panthers), man, trying to get this win and get back on track.”"

Although there are still eight games left in the season, seeing Tranquill's comments should reassure Chiefs fans. One loss won't bring the morale of the Chiefs down, as their goal remains the same: win their third consecutive Super Bowl.

Sure, racking up wins and securing the number one seed is certainly what everyone on the Chiefs wants to do. Accomplishing this would give the Chiefs a bye in the wild card round and allow them to rest up..

Nevertheless, if the Chiefs end up losing the number one seed, it seems they still have confidence that they'll make it to another Super Bowl. At the end of the day, though, what it really comes down to is if the Cheifs can survive their eight regular season games and three or four playoff games without another injury.
