The Kansas City Chiefs' offense is showing signs of life. They're about to be much better in Week 7, as they will get star wide receiver Rashee Rice back on the field after he finally finished serving his six-game suspension.

However, as good as Patrick Mahomes and the passing game have been in the past three weeks, the running game continues to be a bit pedestrian. As such, GM Brett Veach might want to pick up the phone in hopes of bringing in some help via trade.

Kansas City Should Consider Going After Devin Singletary

The Chiefs have been tangled up in trade speculation, including big names such as Breece Hall, Alvin Kamara, and De'Von Achane. However, they could also opt for a cheaper option, and according to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the New York Giants might have one in Devin Singletary.

"With Tyrone Tracy Jr. back healthy, and Cam Skattebo running people over, the Giants don't seem to have a screaming need for Devin Singletary anymore," Graziano wrote. "He's making $3.5 million in fully guaranteed salary this season. But at this point, more than $1 million of that has been paid by the Giants, who are looking around for receiver help and might be willing to eat some salary if it's the right kind of deal to help them."

Of course, Singletary is not on the same level as the players listed above. However, if Kansas City doesn't want to give up valuable trade assets or have zero intentions of signing a player like Achane or Hall to lucrative contract extensions, the Giants rusher could make some sense as a complementary piece.

Through the first six games of the season, Singletary has barely been featured in Brian Daboll's offense, and that's not going to change for as long as rookie sensation Cam Skattebo is out there. So far, he's logged just 24 carries for 82 yards to go along with a couple of receptions on three targets for zero yards.

Even so, he's always been known for his abilities as a pass-catcher, and the Chiefs currently don't have that type of weapon on the roster. Rookie Brashard Smith has shown promise in the passing game, but he's barely been featured, and they didn't bring Samaje Perine back.

Chiefs running backs have combined for 26 receptions for 181 yards, and while Singletary isn't the big swing the fans might want to see the team make, he could be a helpful addition to that committee at a major discount.
