The Kansas City Chiefs will host an incredibly important home opener on Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles come to Arrowhead for a Super Bowl rematch. Pregame details have been revealed, including who will sing the National Anthem and perform at halftime. The official X account of Arrowhead tweeted out the news with Navy Veteran General Wilson set to perform the anthem to start out the 2025 season. Wilson is a noted Chiefs fan who has been performing for teams for nearly three decades.

However, Kansas City is special for the Navy Veteran who has performed for his favorite team a number of times. The last time was earlier in 2025 when Wilson was asked to sing ahead of the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills. It was an incredible performance that yet again set the tone for another sad Josh Allen and Bills' exit. Fans can only hope that Wilson is able to bring this same type of luck ahead of what is a pivotal Super Bowl rematch.

Chiefs Call on a Familiar Face to Sing National Anthem in Home Opener

Pundits have been quick to point out that this would be the third straight Kansas City loss in as many games against Philly. It is vital to put this conversation to bed and steady the ship after an uneasy Week 1. Having a familiar face start off the festivities is a great step in this direction.

Aside from performing for teams, Wilson has released two singles and enjoys spending time performing with his church. Not only this, but the talented performer is a die-hard Chiefs fan, explaining why the franchise feels so comfortable bringing him back. It feels personal to keep the National Anthem home performance within the fandom. A great decision that Kansas City is likely to repeat with Wilson likely returning for the Chiefs' 2025 playoff run.

With this in mind, Chiefs fans should be excited not only for the game ahead but also for a solid lineup of pregame festivities. Fans can only hope that this is setting the tone for a needed win and putting to bed the notion that the Eagles have some type of mental advantage.

It will also remind the league that the dynastic Chiefs aren't done with their impressive run just yet. Making the game must-watch not only for Kansas City fans but for the rest of the league.
