Much has been said about general manager Brett Veach and his decisions not to re-sign members of the secondary. During the 2024 offseason, this was brought to the spotlight when Veach and cornerback L'Jarius Sneed were unable to reach an agreement on a long-term contract.
Though Kansas City did franchise tag Sneed, they ultimately ended up trading him. In exchange for Sneed and a 2024 seventh-round pick, the Chiefs received a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Tennessee Titans.
That said, Veach's decision to trade the 28-year-old keeps aging like a fine wine. On Tuesday, Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk revealed that Sneed will begin Titans training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Former Chiefs CB L'Jarius Sneed Begins Training Camp on PUP List
Most Chiefs fans likely realized the bullet the team dodged by trading Sneed last season. Sneed started training camp last year with the Titans, practicing on a day-to-day basis because of a lingering knee injury. Then, the 28-year-old only played in five games during the regular season due to a quadriceps issue.
While injuries are out of the players' control, if Kansas City had retained him, they may have been down another key contributor. Furthermore, beginning this year's training camp on the PUP list isn't a good sign. Although Sneed can return to Titans practice at any point, having your top cornerback out on the practice field is important.
This is especially true after he missed the majority of last season, meaning he didn't get a whole season to build chemistry with the members of the secondary. Therefore, Sneed may end up struggling to start the season, which is not what a team wants from its highest-paid cornerback.
Looking back, moving on from Sneed was the correct moves. Be that as it may, now Kansas City finds itself in a contract negotiation with star cornerback Trent McDuffie. McDuffie is by far a better cornerback than Sneed, but the question is will Veach have the same insight e did with Sneed or we he finally re-sign a member of the secondary.
