For a team that so often has been beaten by the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason, it seems that this simply wasn't enough for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills tempted their fate in the offseason during the 2024 NFL draft when they traded the No. 28 pick (along with two others) to the Chiefs, who used the selection on versatile wideout Xavier Worthy. Meanwhile, Buffalo ended up addressing its WR room shortly after that, taking Keon Coleman with the 33rd overall pick.

One would think that perhaps this in itself would've been the lesson not to do business with the Chiefs and expect to win. However, the trade for Worthy is yet another example of this in a move that continues to age poorly. Buffalo not only moved back once, but traded again with the Carolina Panthers, moving back into the early second round to draft Coleman.

Now, while Worthy has already been to a Super Bowl and made a handful of big-time plays, Coleman is unable to stay on the field. This isn't due to injuries, but a dipping level of play that has the pass-catcher as a healthy scratch, including on Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans in Week 12.

Keon Coleman's Continued Scratching Proves Chiefs Won Xavier Worthy Trade

Yes, the Bills have their fair share of wins in the regular season against the Chiefs. However, Kansas City has continued to prove that when it matters, it has consistently sent Buffalo packing from the preseason throughout the last decade. Now, the Chiefs get to add another win to their list as Worthy has proven he can be a legitimate contributor, whereas the Bills might be reconsidering Coleman's future at the moment.

In fact, here's how the WR duo's early-career stats compare so far:

As sad as it might be for Buffalo, it is a fun twist for Kansas City fans who are enduring a rough start to the 2025 season. Sitting at 5-5, it seems the Chiefs have never had more doubters or noise around since their dynastic run began.

This leaves looking back at the trade as a nice change of pace, offering a bit of positivity in a frustrating season. Only two seasons into the deal, and it appears that Worthy is on his way to becoming an incredibly important long-term piece in head coach Andy Reid's offense, while Coleman hasn't earned enough trust to even garner a consistent roster spot.

While debating who won the trade hasn't been in question since the end of last season, the latest Coleman developments only further tip the scales in favor of the Chiefs. Perhaps Buffalo has finally learned its lesson in avoiding dealing with a team that simply is always going to have its number.

At the same time, Chiefs fans certainly won't complain if general manager Brett Veach finds a way to trade with the Bills again in the offseason.
