Rejoice, Kansas City.

The most intense game in the last handful of years in Kansas City Chiefs history ended favorably, as Patrick Mahomes overcame Josh Allen in a 32-29 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game matchup against an inferior foe.

Fortunately for most and unfortunately for some, we were given the best seat in the house to watch an incredible win in the most important game of the season. It's nothing to be overly upset about, though Mahomes and Travis Kelce give more meaning to a single football contest than any casual observer could ever understand.

My dad died on February 5, 2023. If the Chiefs win this Super Bowl, they'll have won more Lombardi Trophies since he died than they did when he was alive. He'll never know that the Chiefs could win a third straight championship, but it'd mean the world to him. How about that?

Let's go through the major takeaways.

This is For Our Parents

This is the golden era of Kansas City Chiefs football. The deceased family members among us who have earned an opportunity to rejoice - this is for them.

My father died before he could see Mahomes put his best effort on the field. So what? This is one of the most remarkable stretches in Kansas City history and everyone should be proud. We all are, and I know I'm not alone in representing my dad as a member of Chiefs Kingdom who wasn't fortunate enough to see this glory.

Xavier Worthy is an Elite Player

Dad didn't know who Xavier Worthy was. He probably would've liked him. The rookie wide receiver caught six passes for 85 yards and a TD, cementing himself as one of the best young players in Kansas City history.

This was a monumental day for the rookie and he excelled. We're proud and he should be too.

Kareem Hunt Returned Home

Kareem Hunt carried the ball 17 times for 64 yards and a TD. He's clearly overtaken Isiah Pacheco as the lead back, and that should be expected moving forward.

Pacheco carried the ball just five times for 12 yards. He's not part of this rotation in a serious perspective in the future and no fan should expect him to handle significant carries over Hunt.

How About Our Families?

The most important thing here is what this means to those we loved, specifically those who didn't make it to see this group. No one who cheered for the Chiefs was lucky until Mahomes arrived to see the three-time Super Bowl MVP in his element like this.

A Samaje Perine 17-yard gain to seal the game is something only the luckiest among us dreamed of. We're all carrying the memories of our most beloved family members with each play. We're lucky, yet we're also responsible and owe it to the people we love to keep cheering Mahomes on.

I carry this joy on behalf of my dad. Perhaps you carry someone's joy along with you as well. Just don't forget it - Go Chiefs.
