Chiefs Announce Massive Isiah Pacheco News at 1st Week 12 Practice
The Chiefs' running game is on track to receive some major help this week. Isiah Pacheco, who suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2, looks ready to return.
According to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, the Chiefs said that everybody, including Pacheco and defensive lineman Charles Omenihu, will practice on Wednesday.
Head coach Andy Reid also noted, "We'll see on both those two, We'll just have to see... day-by-day type thing."
While it seems like the reporting contradicts itself, it doesn't. What Reid is likely alluding to with both of these players is that they might not be full participants in practice the whole week.
Nonetheless, both players have a chance to play on Sunday. Pacheco's return to the lineup will significantly improve the Chiefs running game.
Last week, the Chiefs ran the ball a combined 17 times, with Kareem Hunt getting the bulk of the carries with 14. While rookie Carson Steele only had a single carry.
Pacheco's return to the lineup will provide the Chiefs with a good running-back tandem. Although Pacheco and Hunt both run with power, Pacheco has more speed at this point in his career.
Pacheco's speed will provide a higher upside for explosive runs, which have been few and far between since he's been injured.
A return this week would also be the best case for Pacheco since the Chiefs play the Carolina Panthers. Playing the Panthers allows Pacheco to work back in with a reduced workload since they are one of the worst teams in the NFL.
