Chiefs Announce Anthem Singer for Week 9 MNF vs. Buccaneers
By Joe Summers
The Chiefs officially announced the national anthem singer for Monday Night Football in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Local standout Justin Aaron of Junction City will sing on Monday, showcasing his unique talents in front of a national audience built for the moment. Aaron was a star on The Voice and has made his city proud, making him the perfect candidate to capture the audience's attention with the anthem.
While the focus will be on the game, it'll still be neat to see Aaron shine on a national stage.
Chiefs vs. Buccaneers National Anthem Singer Revealed
It's a massive matchup with big implications for Kansas City, trying to earn revenge for a dreadful Super Bowl loss two years ago. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are undefeated, though this victory would mean a little bit more than most.
Aaron is a rising star with a beautiful voice and is a rightful choice to sing the anthem. He'll get an opportunity to showcase his talents and Chiefs Kingdom will be right there behind him.
The Chiefs are massive 8.5-point favorites over the Bucs, an illustration of Tampa Bay's severe injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Mike Evans is banged up, Chris Godwin is out for the season and Baker Mayfield is stuck throwing to retreads and rookies to create some juice.
Against Steve Spagnuolo's defense, that's a tall task. Aaron will help set the tone, then Kansas City's elite defense will shut things down. No matter what happens, it's neat to see a local star get his shine on such a stage.
