Already, the Kansas City Chiefs are awaiting news on star receiver Rashee Rice, who is due for a suspension from the league office. Considering the gravity of the off-field concerns, Chiefs fans understand the need for a suspension. However, it is expected to be short-term with the star returning when the games matter most.
Part of the fallout from this is leaving the Chiefs little room to deal with other injuries or issues at the position. Until Rice is able to take the field, the roster isn't built to sustain another injury.
With this in mind, it is noteworthy that Hollywood Brown limped away from Tuesday's practice. The receiver sat down next to the cart and appeared to be done for the day.
It is important to note the distinction that he was simply sitting next to the cart and was limping. The seriousness of the injury isn't known, but it isn't as if he wasn't walking under his own power or needed to take the cart off the field. Still, it is concerning for a player who spent a large chunk of the 2024 season dealing with injuries.

This is a piece of why the Chiefs were able to add Brown for such a cheap rate. The receiver has a long history of frustrating injuries and inconsistent production.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are the ultimate talent elevators, but for this to happen, you obviously have to manage to stay on the field, something that has been a challenge for the veteran receiver throughout his career. Dealing with an injury before the preseason even begins is hardly a promising start.
If Rice receives the expected suspension, Brown is a vital piece of the offense needed to help cover for the absence of the primary target. If the receiver isn't healthy, the franchise could consider targeting veteran receivers Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper. Adding one of the established targets should be more than enough to aid the offense until Brown is healthy and Rice is able to return. However, this remains a huge leap in the extent of duration of the injury is yet to be reported.
While these are noteworthy options, it remains possible that a suspension isn't levied, and Brown is healthy in time for the start of the season. Regardless, it is a concerning update Chiefs fans will keep a close eye on over the next days of camp.
