The Chiefs get aggressive and make a blockbuster deal on Day 2 to help build consistency in the trenches in the latest mock.

Round 7, Pick 251 - O'Donnell Fortune, Cornerback, South Carolina

Fortune quickly caught my eye when watching film of South Carolina's stacked defensive line, and he continued to make plays and became a rapid riser on my draft board over the last three months. He is an impressive athlete who can do it all on the outside, with great length and ball skills to attack and make plays for his team. The Chiefs love these long athletic corners who they can get on day 3 and mold into their defensive scheme, and Fortune is just that.

The Chiefs have had so much success in the later rounds drafting corners, that it should almost be rule of law for them to draft one on day three. With Jaylen Watson and Joshua Williams likely hitting free agency in 2026, the Chiefs will need corners for the future. Trent McDuffie is one of the best corners in football, but in order for him to be effective, the team will need solid corners around him.

If Kansas City is going to add a corner to help bolster its secondary, it should take a chance on one of its three seventh-round picks. Fortune would be a great fit for the Chiefs and has the potential to be a full-time contributor for the next several seasons if he develops the way I think he can.

Round 7, Pick 257 - Andrew Armstrong, Wide Receiver, Arkansas

I know I had the Chiefs select another receiver earlier in the draft, but it never hurts to double down later in the draft. Seventh-round picks are far from guarantees to be contributors, let alone make the opening-day roster.

Armstrong is one of the most underrated players in the class and it's been overlooked almost all off-season. Started at East Texas A&M and transferred to Arkansas after his first two years.

He quickly caught my eye when I turned on Arkansas film looking to watch some other members of the offense. I didn't include him on my draft board at first because I had not heard his name mentioned prior to the start of 2025. But the second I saw his name come up. I decided to do my full evaluation and I was impressed.

Armstrong has a great frame, as well as great movement skills for a guy of his size, and is more than capable of using his quickness to create separation. I think he may be limited to playing outside wide receiver, because of his strong hands, big frame, and potential for physicality on the outside. He has a large route tree that is exactly the type of player the Chiefs want to add on the perimeter of their receiver room

Armstrong currently sits as my 13th-ranked wide receiver despite much of the consensus having him as a fringe seventh-rounder. He has the potential to be a high-quality addition late in the draft and has all the physical tools to be a late-round steal in the Chiefs offense.

UDFA, Brady Cook, Quarterback, Missouri

The Chiefs may be looking to add a quarterback after the draft who can be the potential backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes for years to come. Cook's consistency and solid physical tools make him an ideal candidate if he is available after the draft.

UDFA, Shamari Simmons, Safety, Arizona State

Simmons is an interesting prospect who can be a true swiss army knife defensively for the Chiefs. Steve Spagnuolo loves to run three safety sets where he can give the defense different looks and makes life hard on opposing quarterbacks. Simmons has the potential to provide depth and versatility on the Chiefs defense making him worth a shot after the draft
