The Chiefs get aggressive and make a blockbuster deal on Day 2 to help build consistency in the trenches in the latest mock.

Round 4, Pick 133 - Ollie Gordon II, Running Back, Oklahoma State

Gordon is one of the most interesting draft prospects who has grades all over the map from draft analysts. Coming into this season, Gordon was widely considered a top-five running back prospect, but after a disappointing season, I have seen him ranked as low as 20.

Gordon entered this year coming off of a 1700-yard season with 21 touchdowns over 285 carries. Expectations were sky-high for Gordon as he came into the year and he was even listed on several Heisman watch lists, including my own.

Unfortunately, Gordon did not meet the expectations people had for him. Last season, Gordon rushed for 880 yards, over 190 carries with 13 total touchdowns. He did deal with a leg injury, that limited his play time in 2024, but his averages dipped significantly as well. Gordon still chose to forgo the rest of his NCAA eligibility and declared for the draft early, showing some confidence that he thinks he is capable of bouncing back.

I think part of why we saw a significant dip in Gordon's production was because of the injury, as many suspected it continued to linger throughout the year. A healthy Ollie Gordon could be one of the best running backs in the draft and even in the NFL, and if the Chiefs are able to grab him on Day 3, he could make a significant impact in 2025 and beyond.

Round 7, Pick 226 - Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Linebacker, Kentucky

Last season, Jamon Dumas-Johnson (JDJ) was one of my favorite linebacker prospects after his junior season at Georgia. JDJ elected to return to school, hit the transfer portal, and found his way to Kentucky where he had a relatively solid senior season.

JDJ was the eighth-ranked high school football player in the state of Maryland and was a four-star recruit from St. Frances Academy before he committed to Georgia in 2021. He instantly came on to the scene with 21 tackles as a freshman and 70 as a sophomore along with four sacks.

In 2023, JDJ missed the end of the season after suffering a fractured left forearm late in the year against Missouri. The injury, along with his lack of experience, hurt his stock and likely played a significant role in his decision to return to school.

Dumas-Johnson did not exactly help his draft stock by returning to school as his production this season was worse than his sophomore year at Georgia. Similar to Ollie Gordon II, the Chiefs bank on JDJ returning to his 2022/23 form. If he can do that, he could be a very successful NFL player.
