The NFL Scouting Combine is set to take place in Indianapolis once again this week, marking the official ramp-up to the 2025 draft. This event provides the Kansas City Chiefs a chance to get an up-close look at several players they may select when late April rolls around.
On the heels of my previous mock, this time I took a different approach, as I think the Chiefs need to add some more solid young talent. To accomplish this, I have Kansas City making a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars to acquire more mid-round selections.
Chiefs get: Pick 88, Pick 125, Pick 223
Jaguars get: Pick 66, Pick 232
With this deal both teams get what they are looking for and the Chiefs are in prime position to add a possible building block to make another run at the Super Bowl. Now let's take a look at who the Chiefs may take with their new arsenal of picks in the 2025 draft
Round One, Pick 31: Ohio State DT Tyleik Williams
The 2025 defensive tackle class is flooded with talent and is maybe the best class I have ever seen. I have give guys on my board with top-25 grades: Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen, Derek Harmon, and Tyleik Williams.
Kansas City only has two defensive tackles under contract for 2025, making the position a big need for them this offseason. It is likely that one of these guys falls in the draft, and if one of them is available for the Chiefs, the team may feel they can't pass on them.
Williams is a unique athlete who displayed elite upside on the interior of the defensive line. He comes in at 6-foot-3, 325 pounds, and moves incredibly well for a guy of his size. He is a quality pass rusher with impressive lateral movement to win early on snaps, but is more than capable of using his size and mixing in power.
The defensive line for Ohio State was maybe the best in the nation with at least three guys likely going in the top 100 and in my opinion, he was the best player they had. Williams would be a great fit on the Chiefs line next to Chris Jones and would allow Spags to get even more creative with the defense in 2025.
