He might not be available after all.

It was already painfully obvious that the Kansas City Chiefs needed to make a move and add another wide receiver to the mix. After a 20-3 bludgeoning at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, the now 5-1 Chiefs desperately need a difference-making pass-catcher.

Thus far, there hasn't been much traction. Other than the never-ending Tyreek Hill reunion rumors, things have been pretty quiet from the Chiefs' side. Though guys like Brian Thomas Jr. and Jerry Jeudy continue to pop up in trade rumors here and there.

While Thomas might still be available, it sounds like Jeudy is off the table as of now. The Cleveland Browns are 5-2, and head coach Todd Monken just gushed about the former first-round pick's contributions to the offense.

The Chiefs may have to pivot away from Jerry Jeudy

“We’re better on offense when Jerry’s a part of it, and I can certainly do a better job of incorporating him in it,” Monken said during a post-game speech to his team. “You can see a difference in his juice in practice and on the field. And that credit goes to him."

Jeudy has been stuck behind star rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston this season. Nevertheless, he's been Deshaun Watson's go-to guy in crucial moments, especially with the game on the line, and he's delivered.

Granted, there were never any actual links between Jeudy and the Chiefs, but as one of the top names in the potential trade market, it made perfect sense that there was some speculation. Even if Jeudy never lives up to the hype as a former first-round pick, he's a proven veteran and a possession receiver, two things the Chiefs lack right now.

As much as Jeudy may have helped the Chiefs in terms of viable depth options, him moving the needle in terms of defenses having to account for him when on the field was minimal. The same cannot be said for guys like Garrett Wilson or even a guy like Josh Downs, who has formally requested a trade from Indianapolis.

Cyrus Allen and Jalen Royals have big-play potential, and they should get more run as the season goes forward. But assuming they do anything of note this year would just be icing on the cake. Not something the Chiefs can rely on.

Nor is Xavier Worthy taking a true step as a premier target. While he was on a solid two-game stretch, Worthy's stock once again plummeted after just 11 yards on three catches against Seattle.

The Chiefs are playing a dangerous game by not giving their superstar quarterback more to work with. As great as Patrick Mahomes is, the lack of a clear go-to guy comes back to haunt this team when it matters the most. The Nov. 10 trade deadline looms large; they cannot afford to stand idle.
