Bills Injury News Gifts Xavier Worthy Perfect Opportunity to Shine
By Joe Summers
The Kansas City Chiefs are locked and loaded for an AFC Championship battle against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and there's one key player who could serve a massive role in the contest.
First-round rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy has become the team's top wideout. He's been dynamic as a versatile weapon who can make an impact both as a receiver and rusher. Worthy caught four passes for 61 yards and a TD when these teams played in the regular season, though there's reason to believe he'll have any even better performance this time around.
Bills starting safety Taylor Rapp was ruled out due to injury. A rookie will start in his place and this is a matchup that Worthy can exploit, making his prop bets carry considerable value.
Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy Poised for Huge Game vs. Bills
Kansas City traded with Buffalo to land Worthy's services. Worthy knows this, and he'll be trying to exact revenge in his first AFC title game.
He came on strong in the second half of the campaign, clearing 40 receiving yards in eight straight games aside from the Denver Broncos matchup in Week 18 when the Chiefs were resting starters.
FanDuel Sportsbook has Worthy's receiving yards prop set at 51.5 with -113 odds to the over. With no Rapp, the Bills' secondary will be ripe to attack with a deep shot. Worthy and Patrick Mahomes have narrowly missed repeated vertical throws but they're bound to connect sooner than later. Based on Rapp's absence, Worthy might hit this over on just one catch.
Travis Kelce's incredible Divisional Round performance will likely draw attention from Bills defenders as well. If they try to take Kelce away, someone needs to step up. Worthy, who caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six TDs in an impressive rookie season, can be that person.
He'll admittedly have a chip on his shoulder and has the talent and role to make Buffalo pay. Target Worthy with prop bets and expect a huge day from the rookie.
