Veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins surprisingly didn’t have a great 2025 season after departing the Kansas City Chiefs this past offseason. After playing with Patrick Mahomes for a half-season, Hopkins took his talents to the Baltimore Ravens to play with Lamar Jackson and hopefully be a playmaker in their offense.

That never happened for the ex-Chiefs wide receiver, who saw his numbers take a nosedive from what he did in 2024 in Kansas City – 41 receptions (59 targets) for 437 and 4 TDs. With the Ravens, Hopkins only accumulated 22 receptions (39 targets) for 330 yards and 2 TDs.

After having the chance to play with Jackson and Mahomes, the ex-Chiefs WR appears to have his sights set on possibly playing with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen.

In an interview with Kay Adams on Up & Adams, she asked Hopkins what he could do up there in Buffalo. The veteran wide receiver responded with, “Me and Josh Allen could do some damage for sure…” Hopkins also praised the Bills' star quarterback for being a “player’s player.”

DeAndre Hopkins Puts His Early Bid In to Join Buffalo Bills This Offseason

Even though he’s 33 years old with declining production, Hopkins would, in theory, be one of the Bills’ top three wide receivers, looking at their depth chart going into 2026.

That said, expecting Hopkins to suddenly turn back the clock to 2023 with the Tennessee Titans seems like a stretch, as he didn’t put up big numbers with Mahomes or Jackson, who are on the same tier of QB as Allen.

Furthermore, the track record of former Chiefs wide receivers going to Buffalo hasn’t worked out over the last two years. Just ask Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman, who joined the Bills to play with Allen in hopes of showing that they can make plays outside of the Chiefs’ offensive scheme.

In the case of Valdes-Scantling, he signed a one-year deal with Buffalo in March 2025, following the Chiefs' decision to cut ties in February of that year. It did not work out for the former Chief, who played in six games before being cut during the season and eventually landing with the New Orleans Saints.

Meanwhile, Hardman joined the Bills’ practice squad in November after failing to make Green Bay’s 53-man roster and getting kicked off their practice squad in October.

Hardman played in three games with the Bills, which included the playoffs. The former Chiefs Super Bowl star was given a reserve/futures deal last week after the Bills were eliminated from the postseason, giving him a chance to make the 53-man roster.

We will sit back and see if Hopkins will be joining Hardman in Buffalo in the coming weeks or if he’ll be playing elsewhere in 2026.
