Another Chiefs WR Suffers Scary Injury in Week 9 vs. Buccaneers
By Joe Summers
Update: Mecole Hardman returned to the game in the second quarter. What follows is the original story after his injury.
Another Chiefs WR has seemingly suffered a potentially serious injury as Mecole Hardman was taken to the locker room in the first quarter of the Monday Night Football Week 9 matchup with the Buccaneers.
Hardman had just returned a punt 30 yards to set Kansas City up with great field position. When he was shoved out of bounds, he stayed on the ground and seemingly grabbed near his collarbone.
After consulting with coaches on the bench, Hardman went back to the locker room.

While not a major part of the offense, Hardman has been extremely effective as a returner this season. He had 133 punt return yards averaging 11.1 per return even prior to his 30-yard scamper.
Losing him would be a big blow, especially considering Skyy Moore is on injured reserve. Nikko Remigio on the practice squad worked as a returner during training camp and if Hardman is seriously hurt, it's fair to think he'd be on the active roster next week against the Broncos.
Hardman has become one of the most experienced and valued members of the team. He famously scored the game-winning TD in the Super Bowl last year though was productive in the playoffs even before that catch.
With the trade deadline looming on Tuesday, Hardman's injury could force Brett Veach's hand. Kansas City already added DeAndre Hopkins but don't be surprised if the Chiefs try to make another deal at the last minute.
For now, we wait to hear an update on Hardman's status and hope for the best. He's officially questionable to return with a shoulder injury.
