The Kansas City Chiefs offensive line finished the final month of the season looking the best it had all season. That, in large part, resulted from All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney moving to left tackle. Thuney moved to left tackle following D.J. Humphries's injury in Week 14 and continued to play at a high level.

That said, Humphries was healthy heading into the divisional round against the Houston Texans, meaning head coach Andy Reid had a decision to make. Reid decided to start Thuney at left tackle against the Texans, and he had an okay outing. This left the door open for Humphries to potentially get the start in the AFC Championship against the Buffalo Bills.

Luckily, according to Pete Sweeny of Arrowhead Pride, Reid confirmed Thuney will be the starting left tackle for Sunday's game during his press conference on Friday.

Andy Reid Confirms Joe Thuney Will Start at Left Tackle Against the Bills

Last Sunday, Thuney allowed one sack, two QB hits, and three QB pressures, according to PFF. Given how lethal the Texans' pass rush is, Thuney's performance in the divisional round was likely better than what Humphries would have provided. Yet, depending on how much weight you give to Sacks, it could be considered worse than his previous outing against Houston.

In Week 16, Thuney allowed one QB hit, three QB hurries and four QB pressures against the Texans. Overall, that's slightly a worse day allowing the defense to reach Patrick Mahomes. It just didn't include a sack.

All in all, Thuney's two performances against the Texans were solid for a player who isn't a natural left tackle. As a result, Reid's trust in Thuney to play left tackle in Kansas City's biggest game of the year was definitely earned.
