The Kansas City Chiefs attract a lot of attention simply based on being such a historic franchise. Playing in three consecutive Super Bowls. It doesn't hurt matters either that the league's best coach and quarterback reside with the franchise. Mahomes is already making a case as the second greatest at his position in league history, and has his sights set on catching Brady.

All of this is going to lend itself to attracting a certain level of celebrity. Something the Chiefs are well aware of, thanks to Travis Kelce and years in the spotlight. This leaves it as little surprise that a special guest was on the sideline for Thursday's practice.

Legendary receiver Terrell Owens was on the sideline, standing with Reid during camp. The former star has a checkered reputation based on some accusations that the star was a team killer, focused only on personal gain. However, Andy Reid and Owens maintain a great relationship with the receiver, openly saying Reid is the "best coach I've ever played for." This, along with the star being in town for a PickleCon 2025, in his efforts to grow the sport, explains his presence. Owens is set to help lead the event alongside fellow former professional athlete Tyler Hansbrough.

Regardless of the truth behind the receiver's concerning past, the Chiefs can learn from one of the greatest to ever play the position. Owens was able to be a scoring threat anytime he stepped onto the field. The legend retired, only trailing Jerry Rice in all-time yardage. In the years since Larry Fitzgerald caught Owens, bumping the receiver down to third all-time.

What makes the receiver such a memorable piece of league history isn't just his statistical domination but a flair for the dramatic. Some might argue that this worked against Owens, but there is no denying that you had no idea exactly what might happen when the pass catcher stepped onto the field. It is important to remember as well that Owens put up these numbers in a shortened season when the league was far more physical. What defenders could get away with hitting receivers and preventing the catch looked far different.

Add in the fact that the league played a schedule that was a game shorter, and it is easy to imagine what Owens might do in today's pass friendly league. Having this presence in camp is a great decision, whether it is just for Reid to pick his brain, or offering the Chiefs receivers a bit of help when it comes to taking the next step.

The Chiefs are built around young receivers who could learn a lot from the legend. Jalen Royals, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy are standing out as clear examples. No question, it is a cool camp addition that perhaps with give the Chiefs even more fuel as the dynasty continues.
